The Art of Organization

As I approach my final week of pledging, I have begun to pay close attention to the use of art that exists within organization. An organization plays upon the ideas of art by creating rules, decorum, precedent, and regulation. As such, no matter what organization you are dealing with they have an redundant tendency to use the same conventions.

Let me give you an example of this. A business and a recreational are both very different organizations, yet at the end of the day they are still founded on the very same artistic conventions. Both organizations have, artistic principles of which they found their roots upon. Whereas a Business may have a well written mission statement used to drive the inspiration of workers, a club generally founded upon an equivalent creed or objective of which to push their members. Furthermore, these organizations are founded on a set of several traditions in which are incorporated into these organizations identity. For some organizations these traditions are more important then either, but regardless, they are evidently important to all. Businesses have a tendency to have large events as well as promotional campaigns with the guidelines of tradition. On the other hand, many organizations base their entirety on the principles and ideas of tradition.

As I’m currently experiencing my final week of pledging, I have learned how artistic and abstract an organization is. In my very own fraternity are expectations are based upon common ideas. For instance we found our organization on the following tenants.

“the Promotion of Brotherhood,

the Stimulation of Scholarship,

and the Development of Character”

Basic principles such as these are truly the foundations of art because the canvas of inspiration is what encourages creation. Art exists because of organization. Aesthetically pleasing depictions of Jesus are only reality because of the beliefs in which he preached. The most pleasing stories of all time are told in the name of the belief of the writer.

As I write my final passion blog, I’m glad I have had the chance to explore my passion on this rather abstract journey. Even now as I write this, I’ve begun to realize how much influence our beliefs have on our ways of artistic expression. So as I leave this blog, I leave you with a quote. “No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist.- Oscar Wilde”
